I will admit that on our first big family trip, we drove simply because it was too expensive to fly with a family of five and because the children were small, I looked for things to do along the way so they could have much needed breaks from the car. BUT, I am so glad I did! The trip to and from our destination, which happened to be Florida, was a blast!

I’ve been taking road trips since I was a kid and I’ve loved them from the beginning. Trips from my hometown in northern Michigan to Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, California, as I got older, trips to Virginia, Massachusetts, Washington D.C. , Maine and Canada and from Virginia to North Carolina during my short time living there. I’ve been privileged to see much of what this amazing country has to offer.
From what I can gather you either love it or you hate it. The desert and dry heat aren’t for everyone I guess, but whatever you do don’t judge it until you’ve really tried it. AND, if you’ve only visited once, and didn’t really give it a chance, I urge you to try again. Read more
