Dear Michiganders, (and everyone else..)

Dear Friend,

How are you? What have you been up to? How is your summer going? Mine is good, a little too busy… Have you been able to travel much? Where have you gone? Have you crossed the state lines this year? I hope you do.

Sincerely, The Great US of A

us-map-with-cities-and-states-usa-map-valid-central-plains-states-road-map-interstate-map-eastern-us-usa-of-us-map-with-cities-and-states-usa-map.pngCountless people never, or rarely, leave their home state even for a vacation. So many are perfectly content to take a week or two IMG_0989and go camping at the same one or two
campgrounds year after year. They (might) visit different campgrounds throughout the state if they’re slightly adventurous. Maybe they, or you, if the description applies, only plan trips to nearby cities or attractions because it’s all you’ve ever done.

I’ll be the first to admit that each state has countless adventures for the intrepid traveler and you can get caught up in the beauty so close around you. Michigan, my home state, is gorgeous. There are two peninsulas to experience and explore.

I get it… it’s easy to get stuck in a rut, to stick with what you know already. However, you’re missing so much it’s actually sad. By all means, please, thoroughly explore your home, I actually encourage it, just don’t get stuck there.

Please, I beg you to broaden your horizons, you have no idea what you’re missing. If you need to start small, begin by visiting the states closest to yours. I’m sure there are plenty of amazing things to see and do at home but I assure you there is SO MUCH MORE and likely not too far away.

If you want to start with a bang, make a list of your top 3 choices and pick one from a hat then begin planning. The road is calling, go ahead and answer.
